Koh Jum is one of the smaller Islands around the Mainland of Thailand. So you won´t be suprised that there are usually less people, especially tourists around. In my case I was the only tourist on that Island even as I worked in a resort 10 days, helping a German guy renovating his bungalows.
first impressions

I arrived by boat with few fishermen and the first thing that came to my head was "now you will se how the rural island-life is".
Everything wasn´t that developped and still like 20 years in the past.
But therefor the beaches look breathtaking.
my job

I found that job on the website of where people can find someone like me, mainly travellers, that might be able to help them with some basic work in the garden or cleaning etc. Therefor the hosts provide a place to sleep and normally also the main meals. In this case I found the job offer of a German guy who rent a holiday resort and needed someone to help him renovationg the old bungalows and the area around.
The resort was located close to the beach only separated from the restaurant(picture) by a small road.
Although it was that close to the sea, the beach on that part of the island wasn´t that nice.
I worked daily around 5 hours exept one day I had time to discover the island because I worked the day before till night.
My main work was besides cutting the hedge or filling up silicon to fix the wooden floors in the bungalows, painting. I painted the inside of nearly all the 5 bungalows.
Therefore we used different colours and I taped the windows and doors so I did not eccidently paint them as well.

That day I had no work to do and was free to do whatever I wanted, I decided to see more of the Island and grabbed my phone with a map and walked.
